Absolutely worth $15 a year
This is a great resource. I do use the paid service because I love having the option to add images to my sets of flashcards. I will use this for years to come.

Great for memory, pronunciation, and visual recalls
As a teaching tool, the service is very limited in extended. On Webb's pyramid, the only level that it effects is Recall and Reproduction (possibly Concepts). For pure vocabulary and art history ID usage, it's great. The built-in narration that the teacher can add, gives it a little more usage. The community that is attached to Quizlet is great and provides a number of sets that can be used and added to everyday. It would be nice, if the service incorporated more games. The ability to download and print flashcards through multiple formats, makes it useful.

A great study tool for students.
Quizlet is a great to tool to check for understanding of a student. In my class, it is an optional tool to enhance vocabulary skills. 100% of the time the students who use the site to study vocabulary have a higher retention of the words. I like that the site has a wide range of words that enable the students to enhance their vocabulary. I also like that you can create you own flashcards or quizzes on the site that the teacher can use in their classroom. It takes some time for the teacher to set up the quiz, but once it is complete it can be used many times over. Also it helps me save paper by letting me just pop the website on the smartboard. Quizlet is a great tool for teachers and students to use in order to enhance a lesson and or study.

Practical but not flashy; Great for use with DOK (Depth of Knowledge) Level 1 tasks.
Quizlet is a very practical tool, but unless you're creative, it's not really a way to get kids thinking. It's good for memorizing vocabulary words or other DOK Level 1 content. The mobile feature and the app work well; my kids seem to prefer it to traditional studying techniques for vocabulary quizzes.

Excellent for teachers who don't use a textbook!
I love it and have been using it for years. I just recently upgraded to the teacher version ($25/yr), but I think that needs some more work before it's really great. It's very low-level looking at Bloom's Taxonomy, but vocabulary is necessary to move up!!

Excellent, easily-accessible drill and practice
I think Quizlet is a fantastic resource for practice, but it does have limitations. I like that the creators of Quizlet are always trying to improve their product. They have vastly improved the iPad apps over the last few years, and I believe they will continue to add features to both the site and the apps to increase the usefulness of this product.

Great tool to help language students with vocabulary!
What I like best about Quizlet is that is allows students access to language practice anywhere. They could be riding in the car to the movies and they could be studying without having to carry their flashcards around with them. Because of it's simplicity to use the kids find it fun. It's a game to them and they still learn from it. They get excited about using Quizlet when they finish an assignment.

Digital flashcards are a plus for some students and they can make their own.
It will be a great tool for students who need to make flashcards but if a student does not have technology access outside of school, usage would be very limited. Not all students will use this method for flashcard creation but it is a great option for some students.

Great app to help students review vocabulary!
Overall Quizlet is a good teaching tool. Students can use it as independent practice and are able to get immediate feedback on their performance. The web based version offers more options than the app.
