Motivating!
I thought there were some students who would never be motivated to do math but I was wrong! I teach in an urban school with a lot of struggling students. I had many of my active boys absolutely love the games on mangahigh. They were willing to practice math facts with no push back or whining etc.

Fun, challenging games review variety of math concepts
This website offers a variety of games/activities that allow students to practice a range of math concepts. Some of the games take 10+ min just to figure out how to play, which is a downside. There is also that capability of tracking students' progress and viewing their answers/scores for future use.

Short and sweet timed MATH games tied to Common Core - WOW!!!
Pleasantly surprised at how the Math Common Core was used as the foundation for pre-selecting math-appropriate games of 10 short items. Those reviewed (grades 3, 4, and 5) were very interactive and provided immediate feedback. At the end of game, each item could be reviewed. Wrong responses contained solutions so understanding is immediate. Since each item had a maximum time allocation, participating students become acclimated to timed testing. An element of competitiveness is unavoidable as "best scores" are tracked.

Flower Power Boosts Fractions and Decimals
Flower Power challenges you to put fractions and decimals in order from the lowest value to the highest value by arranging flower blooms on a stem. As you get correct answers, you earn money that you can allow to accumulate so you can build up your cash or clip your flowers and collect your bounty. An additional aspect is you are racing against the clock to get the flowers in order. Different types of flowers are different values of money, so when things really get moving it is more valuable to focus on the higher valued flowers. Lots of quick thinking going on in this fun game!
There is a help section that does a nice job of explaining how to order fractions and decimals for students that need help thinking though the process.

Students try out transformations in space to reach goals.
TranStar gives great visual support to students who are learning or reviewing translations, reflections, rotations and enlargements. They direct moves of shapes to guide TranStar to its new home through sectors of the galaxy. There are objects that help/hinder progress. Two great supports: students are guided through practice rounds as they learn to use/avoid these objects; there are explanations with graphics which explain the concepts if needed. Students get several chances to guide the shapes correctly; this trial and error approach can really help them learn how the transformations work.

Master Tricky Triangles Angles
The Teach Me section is great for whole group instruction during a lesson on triangle angles. Once students have a handle on the idea of angles and the need for them to equal 180 degrees, they are equipped to begin playing the game independently to practice and reinforce the knowledge. In addition, the game provides extension questions that will allow more advanced students to progress more quickly while still giving lower level learners exposure. Requiring students to review their incorrect responses is important to keep from making similar mistakes.

Fast-Paced Practice with Probability
List All Probable Outcomes is one of many Prodigi activities within MangaHigh that help students practice their math skills. The upside is that the activity is targeted to a very specific, Common Core aligned, skill and adapts the questions up and down based on the students' responses. Students who answer questions quickly and correctly get extra points and immediate positive feedback. Also, there is an optional brief tutorial students can do before doing the activity, or if they are experiencing difficulty. The downside is that the activities lack the graphic video-game backgrounds and sounds that keep students engaged.

Use knowledge of factoring trinomials to survive the Bermuda Triangle
Wrecks Factor from MangaHigh.com
For Wrecks Factor students practice math concepts like factoring, coefficients, and trinomials. The premise of the game is to save the people whose ships sink in the Bermuda Triangle by proving search coordinates. The website gives the math expression and the user drags the grid to show the factors. The graphics and sound effects were comic and conveyed the 'mission' perfectly.
The game is an option on MangaHigh.com, which offers a two month trial for teachers. Students are able to play the advanced level for free as long as the teacher has created a class.
A great feature of the Wrecks Factor game is the help options. When you first open the game it offers both game specific and math topic help. The math help is in the form of a step-by-step tutorial broken down with a visual example and an explanation.
A disadvantage is the lack of specific feedback. When you make mistakes, you know it was wrong, but you do not know what was wrong or how to fix it for next time. The game also cycles through the same prompts. At some point I had just memorized the solution instead of understanding the math behind the problem.

Amazing game based website for kids learning math concepts.
This a fantastic website for teachers to use in their math class. With fun games and challenges set up to the national curriculum, as well as an easy set-up to get you going, this is highly recommended! One of the best features of the site is the that your school can challenge other schools around the world - my class still talk about the time they defeated a school in the UK. A nice feature is that the challenges are set at the different levels of kids learning abilities. At the end of it all, you get a great break-down of your student's achievements.
A brilliant website - try it now!
