Cartoon presentations that will grab your students' attention!
Community Review for PowToon
My Take
I have enjoyed working with PowToon and will continue to use it. My students find it very entertaining and are interested in watching the videos. The free template library and tools are limited, so multiple presentations may become tiresome if they all look the same. The paid version unlocks more options. There is the option to add a variety of media and the Clip-a-Vid feature allows you to trim videos so you get to the exact part you need. As other reviewers have stated, PowToon was developed as a business tool, and the education market feels like an afterthought. Nonetheless, I find it adaptive and very workable for my needs.
How I Use It
PowToon is a wonderful, web-based tool for creating engaging presentations. I have used PowToon for creating teacher-driven videos, delivering instruction in flipped lessons. I made the PowToon with a voice-over then recorded it using Screencast-O-Matic. The PowToon interface was very friendly to use and it was easy to import my own graphics, text, music, videos, and images when needed. Students then access the videos and watch, pause, and rewind to learn new concepts. To work with my district's filters, I chose to upload my videos to YouTube, then import them into Google Drive, allowing me to share them with students.
