Great for lesson grabbers and openers, but not for teaching content!
This is very cool resource to use at the beginning of lessons to grab students' interest and attention. The raps are probably not well-suited for teaching content. The quizzes on the site are basic and limited, but the lesson plans provide some interesting ideas.

I love to use this in my classroom as a hook to introduce a new lesson.
Great for an introduction. They have added lessons and quizzes but I have never used the paid version of the site. My students will sing the songs or check the videos out in study hall.

Not a lot for science
My overall opinion about the product is that it is useful for ELA and Social Studies, but not much for science (which is what I was using it for). I like the idea that it puts things into raps, but the songs are often hard to follow. They do have the lyrics available which is helpful. To me it seems like something that is just in the beginning stage. It has good bones but needs to be fleshed out more (at least in the science section). I looked through all of the videos and only found 2 videos that I could use with my classes and I had a variety of classes that I was teaching. To make it a more useful site, it would need to include more science content that is on various levels (specifically more middle school level stuff).

Students beg to watch The Week in Rap!
Flocabulary offers a new rap song to summarize each week's current events. In addition, they have content-specific raps and hip hop songs to help students learn the content. The students connect to the music and use the music as a tool to reinforce their learning. The raps are cleverly written and usually provide opportunities for deeper discussion and thought.

Flocabulary is a fun way to incorporate current events and essential skills!
Flocabulary is perfect for a "hook" or for reviewing skills, like figurative language terms before a test. You could also use Flocabulary for previewing a skill or a current event, or you could assign students to create their own Flocabulary project. High school students enjoy the humor, even if they find it a bit childish.

OMG! Flocabulary is the jam!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this website. The songs are bumping (I teach in Brooklyn and if my kids like the raps they gotta be good) and the kids remember them! You can use this as a quick lesson in the mornings or as a period long lesson. The kids remember the info and are able to apply it to the daily classwork or homework.
