Great app for helping students understand the atomic theory!
Overall, I enjoyed integrating this tool into my class as an activity. The students were able to effectively see the process of the atomic theory. For this activity, I allowed my students to work on it with a partner. It was relatively easy for them to set up, and they were able to share the timeline and work on it effectively with their partner. Once the activity was completed, the students were able to submit their timeline to me simply by the URL. I feel that my students were able to incorporate higher order thinking skills as well as communication skills. I definitely recommend this app to any and all teachers looking to help students organize dates and individuals associated with those dates.

Good (and free!) web based learning tool for creating timelines with quality graphics and video
This timeline resource was helpful for creating a visual display of events or other material. Adding video and graphics by URL allowed creators the potential to share good quality materials. We found the interface was quite busy with much text especially with the "help" features turned on. Perhaps more visual rather than text based help features would make the interface more streamlined and user cognitive overload for users. Sharing by URL was easy and allowed our class to easily use our student- created timelines as good study and review materials. Overall, the option of one timeline for each email account made the free version the best investment with so much competition for increasingly expensive educational technology. Some students asked to create a collaborative Google Slideshow with dates for titles which was a good (and free) alternative with the advantage of collaborative sharing between group members. Although in fairness, the group edit feature offered by the premium version would offer a similar experience for users (also in 3-D) if so inclined. In short, this is a good product and we will continue to monitor the premium version for new updates and/or options but will continue to use the limited but functional free version as it does offer a useful tool to create and share in a timeline format.

Easy to Create Digital Timelines
Overall, this is a great digital timeline creator tool. It was easy for students to use. They loved exploring the other timelines already created so a next step would be to review published timelines for accuracy.

My quick test didn't go well.
I teach a 75 minute class to upper middle schoolers on Christian faith formation. Kids this age are jaded, bored, and in most need of spiritual enrichment, so I like using multimedia. For 9th grade, a report on a saint is required and using this app might be useful and fun. I thought I could also use this for in-class activities. But my initial test was disappointing: I couldn't use drawings or photos on my mobile; I was required to use permitted urls. And the timeline creation was not quickly intuitive, when I need every minute of my class time to cover material.

Create beautiful and informative multimedia timelines
Tiki-Toki is a website-based application that allows the user to create clear and visually appealing timelines populated by any number of events or time periods, each of which can be elucidated through text, images, video, audio and links to additional material on the Web. In addition to the ability to create very polished looking material fairly easily, the "group edit" feature was the big winner. Using this feature, the teacher can establish the general settings for a timeline and then allow students to work collaboratively on adding events to it. The numerous options for timeline elements (video, RSS feeds, etc.) means that users will need to invest a little time initially in finding their way around, but a robust help feature provides very accessible support. Another especially welcome feature is the ability to show the duration of an event on the timeline in a way that helps put particular events in context with others occurring at the same time.

Create beautiful interactive web-based timelines
The Tiki-Toki web based timeliner resource is a very engaging tool for creating interactive timelines. The program is advanced and most appropriate for older students to use on an individual basis. Groups are able to collaborate using the paid version of the program.
Tiki-Toki has pop up help windows all along the process, which is great since there are so many options. Students can add text, images (uploaded or Flickr) and video (YouTube and Vimeo) to their timelines.
Each event is considered a story which can have an introduction, in addition to multimedia components. We loved the idea of incorporating storytelling into the timeline experience. What a great alternative to the traditional use of slideshow as a presentation tool.
Timelines can be shared online, which is great for feedback, gallery walks and global publishing of work.
