Great app for helping students understand the atomic theory!
Overall, I enjoyed integrating this tool into my class as an activity. The students were able to effectively see the process of the atomic theory. For this activity, I allowed my students to work on it with a partner. It was relatively easy for them to set up, and they were able to share the timeline and work on it effectively with their partner. Once the activity was completed, the students were able to submit their timeline to me simply by the URL. I feel that my students were able to incorporate higher order thinking skills as well as communication skills. I definitely recommend this app to any and all teachers looking to help students organize dates and individuals associated with those dates.
Good (and free!) web based learning tool for creating timelines with quality graphics and video
This timeline resource was helpful for creating a visual display of events or other material. Adding video and graphics by URL allowed creators the potential to share good quality materials. We found the interface was quite busy with much text especially with the "help" features turned on. Perhaps more visual rather than text based help features would make the interface more streamlined and user cognitive overload for users. Sharing by URL was easy and allowed our class to easily use our student- created timelines as good study and review materials. Overall, the option of one timeline for each email account made the free version the best investment with so much competition for increasingly expensive educational technology. Some students asked to create a collaborative Google Slideshow with dates for titles which was a good (and free) alternative with the advantage of collaborative sharing between group members. Although in fairness, the group edit feature offered by the premium version would offer a similar experience for users (also in 3-D) if so inclined. In short, this is a good product and we will continue to monitor the premium version for new updates and/or options but will continue to use the limited but functional free version as it does offer a useful tool to create and share in a timeline format.
Overall, this is a great digital timeline creator tool. It was easy for students to use. They loved exploring the other timelines already created so a next step would be to review published timelines for accuracy.
