My Take

It’s rare to find a single tool that allows preschoolers to publish and share their illustrated stories and college professors to extend their lectures and assignments. VoiceThread is truly an early childhood through adult application for creating visual audiocasts to address curricular subjects and global topics. In the Upstanders, Not Bystanders App Flow (/app-flows/upstanders-not-bystanders), you can see how VoiceThread makes it possible to build a shared conversation, yet break it out by adult, elementary, middle school, and high school sections.

How I Use It

I use VoiceThread to document history happening in our own communities. In the Upstanders, Not Bystanders VoiceThread (https://voicethread.com/new/share/4134620/), for instance, I’ve been able to capture a range of first-hand accounts of character and courage. From the kindergarten student sharing about a classmate who stood up for him on the playground, to the high school student who stood up for herself and challenged a gang member, to the only American to remain in Rwanda during the 100-day genocide - every story, every voice matters.
