My Take
Using Voicethread is a great tool to showcase student work and reinforce learning. I like that parents can see and hear a final product of what students have learned or worked on in class. Instead of just having students read aloud to showcase research or a poem, Voicethread offers the opportunity for other students to comment and react as well as a permanent record of work in the classroom or library.
How I Use It
I have used Voicethread several times collaborating with teachers. Year after year I use it with first graders during a poetry unit. Students create and illustrate original poems. I scan their pictures into the Voicethread program and record their voices reciting the poems. They love to see the final product and share with family. I usually have the link posted on our school library webpage.
I also used Voicethread with third graders when they created an A-B-C Book of Mexcio. They researched their topics, wrote their page in PowerPoint, saved it as a .jpg and I uploaded it into Voicethread. Then I recorded them reading the page of the book. Again, this was a great way to save their research and share and comment.
