My Take

A VoiceThread is a combination of images and comments. Students can upload images of any kind and add written or spoken narration or comments as well as doodle as they comment. A classroom could do this with one account or with accounts for each student. It is a good tool for creating presentations. It is even better for allowing audiences to participate and provide comments or feedback. Video tutorials provide instruction and examples of how to create a VoiceThread and add comments to an existing one.

How I Use It

I have used this with sixth graders who created presentations. Small groups of students took a series of photographs of themselves showing certain actions. After uploading them, they used a combination of voice and text to give information about the photos. They shared them with classmates, who then added comments through voice and text. My students were excited to be able to produce their ideas and share them so easily. The tools are easy to learn and use.
