My Take

As a whole, I like Typing Web and feel it is a great resources for teachers and computer lab managers who need to integrate keyboarding instruction in the classroom. Typing Web is 100%, which makes for a great budget item for school districts. Teachers are able to create multiple classes and provide students with individual accounts. Students start with the home row keys and progress through the courses. Students work at their own pace, with the goal being to interest words per minute, speed, and accuracy.

The one negative I have for Typing Web are the ads around the side and top of the program. I have not witnessed a negative ad (casino, alcohol, etc) but ads are annoying non the less.

How I Use It

The program should be used as a formal keyboarding program with students in grades 2nd and beyond. My district uses this program with students in grades 2-4. They practice for 15-20 minutes each time they visit the computer lab. Because it is web-based, the students could practice at home as well.
