My Take

I teach in many different settings, but I use Skitch in almost every grade level as a set of "digital markers." So many of our iPad lesson plans have a photo-taking element, and Skitch allows us to label, add dialogue, and color on top of all of the content we've created or captured on the internet. I also appreciate that you can incorporate Skitch with a classroom Evernote account, but you can also just take a screenshot of your image and thus not have to log in to any accounts. Also, it takes literally 1 minute before most kids are using it fluently.

How I Use It

Right now we're using Skitch with gifted/talented 2nd through 4th graders. It fits into so many lesson plans! We took a picture of a pumpkin and the students drew pumpkin self portraits using Skitch. We screenshot-ted the Skitch images and then used them in an Educreations story in which students introduced themselves. We have also isolated images with "Cut Me In" and then put them into Skitch for further editing, and then put them into Cartoon apps like Pic Stitch. It's just seamless. Highly recommended.
