My Take
Overall, I love this app as a teaching tool. It is easy to use, offers a great platform to assess learning, and provides a place for creativity. The in-app paid additions offer several historical figures that can be used in shows and the ability to insert personal backgrounds using the built-in iPad camera. The free version is somewhat limited in characters and backgrounds, but overall a great app that is truly engaging!
How I Use It
Puppet Pals HD has been an amazing creation tool for the classroom. Students have enjoyed their experience creating and sharing their shows. This tool is easy to use and includes various characters to address any content area and/or major historical event. As a teacher, I like this app because it is so "cross-curricular." Students can use this app to create final products for a unit, it can be used as a form of assessment to check their understanding of a concept, and it can be used for basic recall and remember activities. Projects can be designed from one end of Bloom's to the next with ease. I have also found it as a great tool to use with students who are learning language and used personally to create introduction shows to begin a lesson.
