My Take
Great product and allows students to easily demonstrate some creativity on their part to show their learning. The in-app purchases to gain more content in the app are a bit of a let down, but not overly expensive to break the bank for a teacher. Still in the inclusion of more sets in the free version and some even more quality sets in the director's pack could be a great improvement of the product.
How I Use It
Puppet Pals HD allowed my students the ability to create quick, simply, amusing "puppet shows" to demonstrate their learning in my social studies classroom. The ability to bring in their own images to use for their characters and props allowed them the freedom to be as creative as they wanted to be. The only major drawback I found in using the app was that it was hard for the students to come to consensus at times if they were working in small groups on a project, but this is not a reflection on the app itself and more so just an expected outcome of group work with students.
