My Take
This app is great for a multitude of content areas and age ranges. I love that it helps students work on digital storytelling. Great as an app to be used by students in isolation or in groups. This app works great in foreign language class because students are creating a story and applying their language skill through speaking and listening.
How I Use It
I worked with our French teacher to have students in French 1 and 2 write a story. Then they needed to translate that story into French. Lastly students were to use the iPads and the Toontastic app to tell their story. The finished products were so amazing, and we noticed that students became more comfortable when speaking French.
I think if we do this lesson or a similar lesson in the future we will have student export their final animation and post the best ones to the school website.
