My Take
Milo's Money is a fantastic tool for teaching kids financial basics. The combination of an interesting storybook and an interactive game makes learning about savings and budgeting fun and engaging. The visuals are very kid-friendly and the hands on game helps the kids learn in a practical way.
While it could use more challenge for all age group, it's a great starting point.
One thing that could be potentially changed is the currency, Since this only has pounds, it confuses kids that might be in a different country. Adding options to choose the currency would make the game more relevant and relatable for everyone.
The interactive game keeps students engaged and allows them to practice decision making in a fun way, the combination of a storybook and game provides a well rounded learning experience.
How I Use It
I haven't used it yet but have tried the demo and if I were to use it to teach kids about money in a fun and simple way. First I'd read the storybook with the class to explain saving, spending and budgeting. Then I'd proceed to let them play the game, where they can make decisions about money and see how their choices work out. And at the end we'd gather up and discuss and reflect on the things that they learnt.
