Community Review for Magisto - Magical Video Editor
My Take
I do not see much benefit from using Magisto - Magic Video Editor as a teaching tool. The music requirement takes away the ability to use dialogue, and the effects are distracting. It may work for a picture slideshow project, but overall I find other video editing apps to be a better choice.
How I Use It
My students were asked to create videos of various types of literary genres. Each group filmed an example of a genre, and we attempted to use Magisto - Magical Video Editor to edit the videos. We quickly learned that this app would not be helpful for this project. First, Magisto requires the user to select a song to play during the video. This made it impossible for my students to hear the dialogue. Next, Magisto requires the user to select a theme. Each theme puts various pictures and colors on top of the video. While this makes the video look really nice, we found that it didn't add anything of benefit, and was actually a bit distracting.
