My Take
As a graphite accelerated educator, I highly recommend this resource to teachers of all age groups and subjects. Teaching Tolerance provides materials, lessons, and ideas for activism (like their mix-it-up at lunch campaign). I really like the in-depth, specific lessons (like Music in the (Civil Rights) Movement), that allows me to take my regular lessons a step farther, or to jigsaw lessons and allow students to explore their own interests. This is a project from the Southern Poverty Law Center, which is something I think people would want to know.
How I Use It
I use teaching tolerance resources and lessons throughout my history classes. They will send you free materials if you request them (e.g. The Children's March documentary), or you can use their lesson plans and ideas on a variety of civil rights related topics. The website is easy to search, and teachers can use as much or as little as possible.
