My Take

I find that the lessons I have selected on www.teachingtolerance.com are well-written with clearly defined learning objectives, essential questions., and easily aligned with the ELA Common Core Standards. Not only are the lessons, film kits and periodicals free to teachers, but the content is fresh and engaging for students. For instance, the film kit "One Survivor Remembers" is an online documentary in a streaming format.

Investigating the resources on this site is well worth your time!

How I Use It

I am impressed with the number and variety of engaging resources on this web site! Within a few minutes, I found several classroom activities for my Literature classes, that I can hardly wait to use! "Tolerance for Others" is a thread that runs through my Literature class, and I am thrilled with the supplemental and extended activities I can use from "Teaching Tolerance". The first activity I will use this year are the "Using Photographs to Teach Social Justice" lessons. This will be an extension to my "Esperanza Rising" unit.
