I use it at school to play games with my friends. It's like upgraded Kahoot! and Blooket. There are cute characters, and fun minigames that keep you busy!
The game is extremely engaging for students and encourages them to practice course content, but can often be easily distracted by the other game features. The actual learning process in the game is rather repetitive, which might lead students to focus their time on making in-game purchases. Additionally, some of the power-ups that students can purchase while playing the game can harm other students, such as 'Freeze', which temporarily pauses other students' ability to answer questions, or 'Blur', which freezes other students' screen, making it difficult for them to focus on the actual educational portion of the game. These power-ups can also be targeted at certain students, which may lead to students collaborating against others, harming their overall learning experience. From my experience in playing the game, it is very engaging and interactive, but can give students too much power, in addition to not always reinforcing the most effective learning.
If you are sick of always having to play competitive learning games like Kahoot, or blookit, gimkit is probably your best option. It is great for students to learn teamwork and the games lasts longer. but don't worry. You can always end the game early. It is the most fun learning game so far. And best of all, you can sign up for free!
