Community Review for Flocabulary
My Take
Flocabulary takes vocabulary instruction into the world of Hip-Hop. I really enjoy using this tool in the classroom. Students become interested in the music and learn grade-level vocabulary in a research-based way. I like the way the take the words and present them in so many ways. Students learn about using context, relationships, analogies, non-examples, and root words. They also then take read passages that contain these words and have to show their understanding in many ways.
How I Use It
I used Flocabulary as three time a week vocabulary instruction for an intervention class. Students were interested and engaged throughout the lesson. They learned new words and also background information that ranged from science, history, empathy, and current events. They truly enjoyed this and all were engaged.
