My Take
The assessment tool is good as it gets better and better every year. However, I wish the assessment was more real-world. I wish there were other assessment type questions besides multiple choice. It does read the questions, answers and passages to younger students. Overall, this is a very good resource with a lot of extra tools that are still being discovered and that DE is continuing to add.
How I Use It
Discovery Ed has a lot of different features for teachers and students to use. I've used all of their features. It has a Science Techbook that gives teachers and students full lessons centered around Science. It uses national standards to create high quality lessons in which teachers can engage, explore, explain, elaborate, and evaluate. We also have the assessment feature of DE. This is a good tool for doing benchmark assessments on children. Lastly, it has a streaming feature. This allows teachers and students to use educational videos, images, sound effects, encyclopedia articles and more.
