My Take

Audacity is super easy to use for recording audio. The product is not a solid teaching tool as a standalone product. However, if used for Podcasts or Digital Storytelling then it becomes a powerful tool for students to share research or a personal message about content learned. Moreover, Audacity although free, requires the program to be downloaded on all computers before students can access the program.

How I Use It

Over the course of a week I had my students complete a digital story using several different tools. Background knowledge was assessed and the fundamentals of digital storytelling was taught. Students brainstormed ideas for a project, wrote a script using Storyboard Maker, searched for images, recorded their narration using Audacity, and put it all together using WeVideo. Audacity is a simple tool for students to record sound and or narration and export to their files for later use.
