Community Review for Audacity
My Take
I am a huge fan of Audacity. The two main features that stand out the most to me is that Audacity is really streamlined and that it is free. Students can download and install Audacity on their home computer without any license key and regardless of platform. I honestly think Audacity is perfect the way that it is.
How I Use It
I’ve used Audacity with students over the past ten years. They have used it to create and edit podcasts and to score a video project they were working on. Although it isn't the most intuitive program, there are lots of resources online. The program takes a little time for most students to feel comfortable with, but once they figure it out they are off to the races. I typically give my students a cheat sheet to help get them started. There really is no better free audio editing program I have encountered.
