Community Review for Audacity
My Take
Audacity is a lot to look at when you first open up the program, but if you get started by following their tutorials you can be successful. I have worked with Audacity with 2nd grade and I needed to instruct step by step, and 5th grade was very eager to make voice recordings independently. You tube is a great resource for using Audacity's advanced tools.
How I Use It
Assisting students with projects where they record voice/story to slideshow images.
It is easiest to make recordings on one computer and add to individual projects.

Audacity rocks for creating audio recordings
There are some complicated steps like installing separate plug ins for features such as exporting as an MP3 file, but generally this tool is fantastic for student creation. They love the flexibility it provides them to be creative.

Extremely powerful free tool!
I am a huge fan of Audacity. The two main features that stand out the most to me is that Audacity is really streamlined and that it is free. Students can download and install Audacity on their home computer without any license key and regardless of platform. I honestly think Audacity is perfect the way that it is.
