Excellent introduction to coding simple enough for elementary students
I think this is a wonderful free tool that can be a great starting point for those interested in coding. The videos of famous people and the Angry Birds/Plants vs Zombies are highly motivating. I also like the additional resources available for students who move beyond the basic course. This has been added to my list of "must do" activities and is a resource worth checking out.

Fun Problem Solving activities
Code.org is super responsive! They listen to teachers and their feedback and do their best to fix/change/add/delete our suggestions. Take advantage of the suggestions portion of the curriculum as they really do read each and every comment. I think this is a wonderful and fun way for our students to not only be introduced to coding, but computer science and what computer science really is. This curriculum teaches students that failure is ok and that persistence is necessary with problem solving.

Wonderful interactive site for kids to get their feet wet on computer programming
You are not going to learn how to write code to create your own app or game, but you will be introduced to the basics of coding. I originally planned to spend one class session in the Computer Lab on this, but students loved it so much, we extended it. Many students continued working through the lessons on their own time at home, so it is very engaging It is worth spending instructional time on.

Terrific introduction to computer science with engaging lessons and activities.
I really enjoyed this website and continue to use it today. I liked all of the video tutorials that were included. They were easy for the students to follow and they were always available and easy to return to if a student was stuck and needed a to view it again. I thought the format was great, too. The students watched a video tutorial and then they completed 3-5 puzzles. This repeats as the students work their way through 20 puzzles. The videos introduced a new block that they wanted the students to try in the next set of puzzles. This website is very user friendly! If you want students to be able to save their progress, then you must create a class. This will allow students to complete their hour of code at home and investigate further.

Awesome way to bring coding to your classroom!
I really like the short videos that introduce each lesson. They give a great snapshot of what the lesson is about and what they will be doing. The fact that they bring in people that are well known to the kids helps a lot too, especially for my "middle school" aged students who don't really think anything can be "cool." There can be a lot of work to go with the younger kids units. I will admit that for the kinders, I ended up cutting the arrows out and to save my sanity, I paper clipped them to the papers so that I didn't have to go around counting them out for each student. It's great for them to have the manipulative, but I think they could have just drawn the arrows on the paper and met the same goal. I still enjoy using this curriculum as I think it is very well laid out and I think they will continue to improve it as time goes on, coding changes, and more educators start to teach it in their classrooms. I hope that teachers share with them how they modify and adapt things to work in their classrooms so that everyone can benefit.

Not Just About Computer Programing
Code.org offers a variety of activities and resources for grade levels ranging from early childhood to high school. This is very important when working with multiple grades and students with disabilities. The materials are flexible and can be extended or shortened depending on the classroom situation. The website is building it's content and uses materials that engages all learners, whether they have a strong interest in computer science or are the novice learner.
Code.org is not just focused on computer programing but demonstrates how students can learn math and reasoning skills as well as develop strategies for problem solving.

Great way to introduce coding to students!!
I liked many things about this teaching tool. First, the step by step videos were not only helpful, but were also done by several famous people that students recognized quite quickly. I like how the program was very user friendly. I like the great discussions and collaboration I witnessed as students worked to complete their levels as well as support their classmates. I also liked the other various opportunities students could engage in to learn even more about coding.
