Wonderful interactive site for kids to get their feet wet on computer programming
Community Review for Code.org
My Take
You are not going to learn how to write code to create your own app or game, but you will be introduced to the basics of coding. I originally planned to spend one class session in the Computer Lab on this, but students loved it so much, we extended it. Many students continued working through the lessons on their own time at home, so it is very engaging It is worth spending instructional time on.
How I Use It
I began using Code.org with the "Hour of Code" challenge. I used one session in our school's Computer Lab for students to setup their accounts and work through the tutorials which are logic based games. As students progressed through the lessons, they were using more code and less point and click to understand the code required from each lesson. This is a nice way to introduce coding to your students.
