Hour of Code!!
I really enjoy using the Hour of Code activities and then following up with the Code.org activities. If you sign up for Code.org there is a wealth of resources and student progress is easily tracked. The activities work well with all populations from beginner to advanced. All of the concepts of coding- commands, loops, events, if statements, etc are introduced to the students at an appropriate time and reinforced throughout the units. I really enjoy using Code.org

The program and the support is AMAZING! This curriculum is an awesome opportunity for a child as early as 4 years old to be introduced to computer science!
I am truly pleased with Code.org. The training that was offered to me in the Baltimore office location was AMAZING! The manual and support that is provided helps to make CODE.org effective. The instructor shared her information so that I could even call to get understanding if I needed more help. The instructor was even willing to train my other teammates . The lesson plans and the videos to get the children engaged are AWESOME! I think it is wonderful how the program can be used all the way into the high school years. This program allows students to become little engineers! Each session allows the student to learn and to elevate. The program allows the learner to manipulate and give immediate feedback. I'm very pleased with CODE.org!

Engaging Intro to Computer Coding
I think that Code.org is a great tool for teaching computer coding/programming to elementary students. The students are very engaged. It helps them develop problem solving and critical thinking skills because they do not always get the puzzle correct, and have to figure out how to solve the problem.

Outstanding for opening the pathway to coding!
This is an outstanding teaching tool. Great tutorials are provided for educators with limited experience who are interested in hosting an Hour of Code. The Hour of Code program itself is very well designed and interesting. Students are very motivated to continue advancing through the scaffolded levels. Videos are interspersed throughout to provide support as the levels become more difficult.

A fun way to learn the basics of coding
This is a great tool to use to introduce coding concepts to students in a fun, game-like format. It focuses on the major concepts such as loops and conditionals, but the students use Blockly to write code, so they don't have to worry about the details of the coding language, which can frustrate beginners. The site also has great video tutorials, tons of support for teachers, and even a translate widget so that ENL students can participate with ease. The only con, in my opinion, is that students can complete all the courses without actually ever learning a specific coding language.

Learning to code as fast as you can
If you need an introductory course to start teach coding, I think that Code.org is an excellent tool. Students can learn basic concepts of computer programming such as algorithm, sequence, debugging, and loops. I also like the fact that Code.org freely provides lesson plans that you may adapt to you needs. At the moment, the program lacks more flexibility. I mean, some times I need my students to create their own codes but there is no room for it. In sum, if you want your students to learn to code as fast as they can, give Code.org a try. I believe you're going to like it, too.

Coding made fun- Really fun!
I found this teaching tool extremely useful as it kept the students engaged through out the process of solving puzzles. Advanced students breezed through the easy ones and were eager to get to the advanced puzzles. It's a phenomenal site for teaching the basics of code.

Code Studio is where it's at
Please note that I am specifically talking about Code Studio (a feature of code.org that they are not continuing to develop). studio.code.org is probably the best thing I have found to teach principles of coding. You're working with real code but, if you're working only in block mode, you don't have to worry about syntax. Nevertheless, you are working with real code, real design principles, and looking at real results. The best part of it is that it actually includes REAL APPLICATION of the code you are learning.
It's very challenging at times, and some students will definitely need your support. You will need to understand principles if you are going to support students adequately.
