NearPod helps to bring any lesson to life for your students. In comparison to a traditional PowerPoint, students are provided with opportunities to collaborate, reflect, and respond to individual slides. NearPod offers teachers the ability to insert open ended questions, poll the students, collaborate with classmates, assess students, and with upgraded membership teachers can insert webpages (for a fee). While creating and uploading your own unique and student specific lessons, NearPod offers a wide variety of presentations for free. Their lessons range from reading, writing, math, science, social studies, life skills and even digital citizenship. When looking at digital review models, like SAMR and TPACK, NearPod enhances lessons and provides functional improvements to traditional PowerPoint lessons. These improvements include collaboration and application of the knowledge learned throughout the lesson making NearPod are valuable technology resource. Typically, I personally, don’t like when sites have free and paid versions. NearPod, however; offers similar functions with the free version and if the paid functions are necessary for a given lesson, the site is affordable and provides various options (individual, school, and district)! Overall, I highly recommend NearPod for teachers and students! NearPod gives students the opportunities to safely learn online and engage in collaborative learning opportunities to help them enhance both content knowledge and technology knowledge.

As a Social Studies teacher, I have noticed that this format allows students to stay engaged in the lesson as they have first-hand access to a lesson presentation while not feeling ostracized by "getting a wrong answer." Educators have the ability to make public answers anonymous, so students can comfortably learn from one another without that feeling of failure. In addition, you may create a presentation from scratch or upload a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation, while adding in any activities that will support students during the lesson. Although this application can be great for student engagement, students do have the opportunity to open up a new tab in an internet browser while staying logged into the lesson. Therefore, as usual, it is imperative that teachers circulate throughout the lesson to ensure students are on-task and assess their learning. All in all, this is a great tool that allows students to interact with the content in a new and innovative way!

Overall, I do not like this project as a teaching tool. Exploring a 3D view of the Great Wall of China seems like a great idea, but the context is also important. The questions need to be rigorous and aligned to state standards. There are other websites that provide similar virtual engagement sessions, but with more meat overall. If you know someone who is considering purchasing this - tell them to run far away!

I think this teaching tool is very accessible to many students whether they are in class or at home. I liked the feature that keeps students on track and focused .

I think Nearpod is an extremely useful technology tool for all classrooms, especially with students of varying abilities and learning styles. I like the ability to see previously created lessons as well as create your own for your diverse learners. It is easy to create, access, and navigate for both teachers and students. The lessons can be highly engaging with virtual field trips, live Twitter streams, and simulations. Nearpod has endless purposes in a classroom from the beginning of a lesson, to collaborative activities, and assessments. However, I wish that the already created lessons can be adapted to fit your own personal needs. Also, it would be useful if all options when creating a slide were available without the need to upgrade for a cost.

Nearpod is a great multi-media teaching and learning tool. Nearpod allows teachers to implement a variety of learning tools in one space, so they can reach many different types of learners in each lesson. For example, I can use different media to present the information: links to websites, PowerPoint presentations, PDFs, live Twitter streams, videos, etc. Students also have the opportunity to demonstrate their learning in a variety of modalities: through answering open-ended questions, responding to polls or quiz questions, or building or designing new content based on what they've learned through the task. This helps all types of learners access the content.

I think Nearpod is a great teaching tool, but also lends itself to independent study--it's very versatile. Nearpod recently made some changes that give more options in slide creation and allow you to add more components to a slide. Powerpoint presentations can be converted into Nearpod presentations, giving teachers more control over discussion opportunities, but also allowing teachers to more closely monitor their students' learning. I also really like that Nearpods can be inserted into your LMS (i.e. Canvas), if applicable, so students can review and access them outside of the classroom. My only quip with Nearpod has been the lack of options in slide creation, but they have been working on that!

I love Nearpod! I really like being able to create my own lessons with the Nearpodize app and edit existing lessons. My only complaint is that students cannot log back in the next day and continue working on their project.

Nearpod is a truly engaging tool that should be in every teacher's toolbox. It is the perfect way to utilize student devices and is easy to join for any age. If you haven't used Nearpod with students, you should. It provides added engagement not only for students, but also for teachers. Every year, more is built into the tool. Nearpod is very responsive to feedback and is always willing to listen to suggestions to strengthen their awesome tool!

I love Nearpod! The students stay engaged in whole class discussions and lessons. There are pre-made lessons and I can create my own lessons, too. The results allow me to formatively assess my students and quickly provide feedback.
