Hip Hop to a more engaging lesson plan.
Flocabulary is a great resource for teachers trying to find a different way to engage their students. The lyrics are well written and delivered in a way where the appeal of the music does not completely distract form the content. The site keeps adding more and more content for all grade levels and some new areas do seem a little rushed and under researched but overall the materials can make an impact on any classroom activity. In addition the Week In Rap is a perfect way to review important events from the week. Do not forget about Writing Academic Rhymes resources.

Flocabulary hip hop music lessons are great for teaching my students common core math skills.
I enjoy this website as a teaching tool. The songs teach specific information and engage the students in an active way. I wish there were more topics covered, especially in science.

Great resource to build understanding of specific topics.
Overall, this is a great tool to use in the classroom! I highly recommend signing up for a free trial. Unfortunately, it does cost money to have an account. However, it is well worth the cost in my opinion!
It is a great tool to reinforce important concepts that students are using. Specifically, it puts these important concepts into words that students will understand. Words, that sometimes, teachers have difficulty expressing to all students in a relate-able way.

Free access to supplemental videos
I really love it to use as a whole group. Without have a subscription and seeing the additional features that this website offers I would not be able to recommend it. However, I really think that the price is good and it could be a great asset to the classroom. I really like adding visual presentations and videos to accommodate my visual learners. In addition, this website and the videos offers a great tool to wrap up a lesson. When you are able to link a video to a lesson to help tie in and fill in the missing pieces, I feel that you are helping out your students in not only comprehension but also making it interesting!

Engaging hook activity that grabs the attention of students!
I would highly recommend Flocabulary as a teaching tool in every classroom. It is extremely easy to use and I like that users can search a lesson by topic, CCSS and/or grade level. Students can access the website from desktop computers, iPhones, iPads and other mobile devices. Anyone can sign up for a free trial for 14-30 days. After the free trial has expired, there is a monthly fee for an individual, school or district membership. I would like to see Flocab include a few more topics in math and language arts.

A great tool to use with kids for current events!
I love using this website. I used to have the students work on a current events assignment using the newspaper or different news websites. This website has made the whole project into something different. The students are engaged with the song and the articles. The critique that I have is that sometimes I have a problem with the news that they chose to cover. This is not an all inclusive current events site. I realize that not everything can be covered in a 2 minute song. Just know that you may have to supplement with some other articles.

Engaging addition to curriculum, the kids love the songs!
My 7th graders love it, the 8th graders I have tried to use it with were not so crazy about the historical raps, but loved the Week in Rap. Provides a great model for students to learn a new way to share their understanding of a subject. Very engaging. LEt's face it, if you are like me you can remember anything if it is put to music!

Peak their interest with a song while introducing vocabulary
It is engaging. It supports vocabulary. Unfortunately, I don't have a budget to support a paid site.

A great way to learn content and have fun! Great for your auditory learners!
I love Flocabulary! I like that my auditory learners now have a tool that they can use to help them learn. I like that it creates a fun atmosphere in my classroom. I also like the fact that they have a fill in the blank component with their lyrics.

Engagement and Retention in Beats and Rhymes
Whether to use Flocabulary as a sum-up tool like me, as a lesson, or as an engagement hook in the beginning is up to the teacher. I know it definitely works for summary of the lesson and I could see it working as effectively as in other ways. Worksheets on comprehension questions and keywords in lyrics are very detailed and helpful educational resource for both teachers and parents. Flocabulary is a very clever and effective website for fun teaching. One thing that can improve is accommodating English Learners. Because of the rap style music, ELLs with beginning and intermediate competency were not able to follow as much. Adjusting the music speed function would be really helpful.
