Good extra learning tool
This game adds some fun and thinking to spell different words. The student has to form the correct words in order to move on to the next spelling activity. The only thing is that there are no teaching tools. The game just seems like a way for students to see different letters and attempt to make them into words. I think it is a game better than playing and non educational one but could be better.

Just OK
I personally wasn't a fan of this app. Although I like the vibrant colors, fun sounds, and interactiveness of it, I feel like it was a little too overwhelming and vague. I think that the app had too much stuff on it to the point where it may be overwhelming for a student to use on their own. Also, I feel like the app has a lack on instructions, making it more confusing to navigate through.

Great Program for Primary
Overall, Starfall is a great filler and not a replacement for direct instruction. Using Stafall to review concepts and give students opportunities to practice skill sets is the primary reason to use Starfall.

Great, simple, engaging site
Starfall is the Sesame Street of websites for early literacy development. It does a great job of being easy for even the youngest students to understand and appreciate, and the lessons are good enough that the students enjoyed watching them again and again. The navigation of the site is easy enough for students to remember which lessons they've seen already and which they haven't. It also does a great job of supporting early readers of all levels, from simple ABCs to more advanced poems and stories.

Outstanding app for use in conjunction with an outstanding website.
For those familiar with Starfall.com, the Starfall Learn to Read (SLR) app will NOT disappoint! All of the printable books available on the website are present in the app, but made even better through the fact that children can interact with the stories. Each "book" has supporting activities for the target reading skill, such as word creation, games, and songs. This app guides students through 15 "books", beginning with short vowels, moving next onto blends and digraphs, then silent "e", and finally onto "y" as a vowel. The great thing about SLR is that it has something to offer both on-track kindergarten and pre-kindergarten readers, as well as students in need of enrichment and challenge.
