My Take

Its a great tool to show how the Electoral College works. You see the "light bulb" go off when you give M&M's (If M&M's wins) and they respond by saying "But I voted for skittles?" When you then tell them but "The Electoral College" declared M&M's the winner. At that point they truly understand how the Presidential Election works.

How I Use It

This website is a great tool for teaching the Electoral College. We hold an election between M&M's and Skittles. Each student draws a State out of a hat and we vote and because I have close to but not quite 51 students I have students choose a favorite teacher and pick for them. They then have to go to that particular teacher's classroom to tally their vote. I sentimental worksheet is also provided for students to work on during the activity.
