My Take

This website was a bit confusing for 6th graders and I had to break down the information a little bit more than I thought I would have to with the website. However, the website was extremely beneficial for explaining why winning states and what states are so important. My favorite part of the website is the maps of past elections. Students were able to look at maps and help apply information from the current map to predict the outcome of the 2016 election. The students were not thoroughly impressed with the website but I do believe that it help aid them in learning the electoral college process.

How I Use It

I used to 270 to win to teach students about how the electoral college works. Teaching the electoral college to 6th graders can be a difficult process. I used this website to help aid in my instruction in teaching about the electoral college. The website helps visually explain the electoral college using a map of the United States. Also, it helps show the importance of winning a state and what states are keys to win the presidency. Furthermore, as a class the teacher and students looked at past presidential election maps to help predict what would happen in the 2016 election.
