My Take

I really like this app because it is writing in a different format with a variety of prompts provided. I do wish it included more graphic organizers and editing features. In order to practice editing skills, students have to print their work.

How I Use It

My students would much rather use this app than write with pencil and paper. It provides multiple writing prompts giving students the flexibility in choosing what they want to write about. This can be done in a whole group setting to introduce new writing techniques, practice editing, and organizational skills. Students can also work on this independently on the iPad. Most of the prompts can be done in one class. Students also have the options to publish, email, and add audio to their writing which are some really neat features. The audio feature makes students feel proud of their work. I have also used this in a one-on-one setting for students who struggle with writing. This provides the students with instant feedback to help build crucial skills. This app has worked really well in my classroom.
