Straightforward presentation tool for students and teachers.
Community Review for Sway
My Take
Sway makes very nice looking presentations. It allows you to search for videos and images within the program which makes things simpler for students. In addition, the remix function for the design of the Sway is ideal for students who may fuss too much with design and allow them to focus on content. The ability to stack cards and drag them to change order is nice. Keep in mind that because of the remix feature and the nature of Sway you will not have full design control. Some students got frustrated that they couldn't change font size exactly as they wanted or move images or words just so. I also wish it was a bit easier to cite images in Sway. You can see a URL for images when you search for them if you keep it checked in the search panel but it is very hard to see!
How I Use It
Students and teachers can use Sway to create presentations that look great on mobile and desktop devices. I have used it for presentations to students, presentations for my peers, to share an annual report, and for my own graduate level classes. In the classroom I have had students create presentations for an inquiry project on heroes. Students enjoyed the product, but expect to give them some time to play around with it first before inputting content as it is quite different than PowerPoint.
