Scoopit is a web tool that allows teachers and students to curate sites from the web and display them in an online magazine format.
Community Review for Scoop.it
My Take
Scoopit is not a "made for education' tool, but like many things that are useful in the real world, the educational applications are robust. I like the way that Scoopit pushes sites into a relatable magazine format. Teachers can easily collect sites pertinent to student study into a Scoopit page, and students have the opportunity to become responsible curators of their own content and members of a community of curators.
How I Use It
At the end of the day, you’re “doing” a lot actually simply by using a technology like Scoopit. You’re modeling the proper use of social media, can help students understand writing for an audience, keywords and vocabulary understanding (and the aforementioned audience awareness), exploration and gathering of online resources, image and element impact, collaboration and community environments.
