Community Review for Schoology
My Take
Overall satisfaction with Schoology is high. VERY HIGH. Their support is phenomenal and very rapid to respond. There is a strong user base of connected educators using Schoology that leverage the platform above others. One of the few that focuses on "Teachers helping Teachers". Students ability to use Schoology and own their learning is crucial. The recent feature release of Student portfolios is a big gain. Now there is an ability to have students demonstrate and showcase work that is relevant and rigorous to a broader community. Schoology's platform is ever-evolving which is nice because they recognize with the changes in education and learning needs, the platform needs to advance. I continually look forward to new releases that meet the needs of our teachers, students and community.
How I Use It
We use Schoology to serve as a platform to host our blended learning curriculum in the classrooms. Students can now engage with one another, collaborate on assignments, receive real-time feedback on assignments and connect with teachers and each other beyond the school day. Their use of applications via the API are beneficial because Schoology can now be the single stop for Google Apps resources, Khan Academy, Youtube, Turnitin, Remind101 and so many other apps. As an Administrator and using their enterprise version, I really like the fact that Schoology works directly with Powerschool (SIS) and teachers assignments and grades can directly transfer over to the grade book and report cards without teachers having to do additional work. This feature is currently limited to certain assignment categories but this is a limitation on ALL SIS vendors and not the fault of Schoology.
