Resources galore!
Community Review for ReadWriteThink
My Take
I like this website because I am able to take what I need and incorporate it into my unit that I am working on at the time. The site has excellent interactive activities that can be used for a variety of purposes (checking for understanding, formative assessment, etc.). My only complaint is that the interactive activities seem more tailored for elementary/middle school. There are such a variety of resources available that it is difficult to summarize in a simple review.
How I Use It
This website offers a plethora of resources for the English teacher of all ages, from lesson plans to interactive activities for the students. The search tool enables teachers to easily search for lessons or interactive activities by grade level and other filtering tools that allow teachers to find exactly what they're looking for. In my classroom I have used the "Fractured Fairy Tale" interactive activity in which it explains with examples of what a fractured fairy tale is and walks the students step-by-step through the process of writing their own. http://www.readwritethink.org/files/resources/interactives/fairytales/ I have also used bit and pieces of lesson plans I have found on the site to incorporate into my units.
