My Take

Quia offer free practice games and quizzes developed by other educators. The games are varied and the graphics are good. If you want to create you have to pay a fee, but you can search by textbook or topic, so if you have a book someone else has or is using, you will have similar teaching skills sets to work from.

I used to have my kids do their spelling quizzes and then play games to learn concepts and reinforce what they were learning. It kept track and allowed me to have "grading-less" grading.

How I Use It

Well, the applications and games varied, so you could do straight up vocabulary, or play jeopardy about historical facts. I use both the quiz option and the games. I could even see who took the quiz, how long they took, and if they had started again.

The best part was as a practice or quiz, I had the option to show right answers or just wrong answers; which made the set-up more flexible.

The fee is to be expected, I guess, for all the benefits.
