Nearpod opens up so many possibilities for teachers to engage students with technology. This is the first app I learned how to use on our ipads to teach a lesson. Our librarian used it first. It is fun and easy to work with! It does require teacher input.

My Take

I liked how I could integrate this app into any content area I wanted to. It would be nice if the audio files were easier to play in the self-paced mode. I gave each of my students headphones. However, the audio was glitchy. It worked sometimes.

How I Use It

I used it to introduce vocabulary in an indigenous language. My 2nd grade students saw the picture of a wild berry on their ipad. I included audio files. They were able to click on the audio file to listen to the word in Lushootseed. At the end of the presentation, they tested their knowledge with a matching game.
