Interactive presentation tool with amazing assortment of ready-made lessons
Community Review for Nearpod
My Take
Nearpod is a great interactive presentation tool. Teachers are able to use ready-made lessons or create their own. Teachers are able to guide students through the presentation on their own devices and then use embedded assessments and activities to gauge student understanding. Having students use one digital tool throughout a lesson is easy with Nearpod.
Nearpod starts off as a free service, but its best features come at a cost. Some of the pre made lessons are free, but the better lessons do cost. Storage is limited in the free version. If you are planning on using Nearpod throughout the school year, I would upgrade to a paid account.
How I Use It
I have used Nearpod with my elementary students. I found the ready-made presentations found in the Nearpod Library to be very helpful. These lessons were great and had a nice balance of information and student activities. In a particular lesson, we completed a close read of an article by using the drawing tools to annotate the document. There were also nice text-dependent questions that were included in this presentation. There were also opportunities for students to create and explore within the lesson.
I have also created a few lessons using Nearpod. The first presentation took some time to create, but after awhile I got the hang of it.
