My Take

It has been a lifesaver during remote instruction, but I will continue to use it and go almost paperless when normal instruction resumes. I will use it whenever I want the students to explain concepts or make corrections and whenever I want to provide additional or remote instruction on an activity. Kami is the most useful teaching tool I've encountered in my 29 years of teaching.

How I Use It

As a Microsoft Word user, I needed a program that would allow me to push out all of my materials so students could annotate on them while maintaining the formatting because I use so many diagrams. I can also do the same with my PowerPoint presentations, my pdfs, my Google Slides and docs, my photos and diagrams......everything. But one of my favorite features is that I can include voice comments or video comments or screen capture comments that either give instructional details, hints for how to solve a problem, or 1-1 feedback to individual kids. And kids can use these comment features as well. I can also insert a Youtube video directly into the Kami document so kids can watch it while answering questions or taking notes. Best of all, I can watch what students are doing on their documents in real time and provide immediate feedback. Any teacher can use Kami but it would be a game changer for anyone using a flipped classroom model.
