Community Review for JASON Learning
My Take
As an educator working with a low-level reading population, it was great to use JASON to boost their knowledge of science concepts and real life application. The site served as a jumping off point for most of our scientific inquiry. The Citizen Science tab seemed the most useful for us (we are not paying for the JASON curriculum at this time). It's a good additional resource to include for exploration on biological and earth sciences.
How I Use It
We used much of the STEM career videos to continue our conversation of how science and technology fit into their futures. Our science classes joined the World Water Monitoring Challenge and we examined as a school how our science labs in Tennessee fit in with those around the nation. We began scoping out the Zooinverse project, but this project did not seem appropriate for our learners: it involved transcribing ship records and could become an interesting addition with more teacher preparation.
