Great way to keep all your documents together - even when you are on the go!
Community Review for Google Drive
My Take
Google Drive is a really great product. It seems to be very stable and has become part of my daily work flow. The ability to share documents and collaborate with coworkers makes Google Drive a great alternative to emailing around drafts of Microsoft documents. With that said, Microsoft Office 365 may change that in the long term, however. My state will begin using Office 365 in the fall of 2014. With this new system, we will gain all the collaborative features we've come to love with Google Drive while using full featured, industry standard Microsoft Office products. A lot of people will continue to use Google Drive. But the ability to share and edit Microsoft Office documents online will be very tempting for a lot of Google users, myself included.
How I Use It
I use Google Drive every day! I use two or three different computers on a regular basis. Before Google Drive, I used products like Dropbox.com to store my documents “in the cloud.” This worked well enough, but because I use Google for my primary email service, I find Google Drive to be a little more convenient.
In case you are totally new to Google Drive, you can think of it as a “folder” or set of folders that is saved on the internet. Users can log in to Google Drive on any web-enabled computer and see the items that have been saved. What’s even better is that users can share folders and documents with a friend or coworker. This means that users can collaborate with coworkers on projects, documents, etc., even from different locations.
The nature of my job requires me to collaborate on documents, spreadsheets, and presentations with many different people. My coworker are spread out all over our state in meetings, training, schools, etc. Using Google Drive has been a life saver! With this product, we can all contribute to shared documents without the need to email multiple drafts.
