My Take
Geoboard takes the "old" geoboard/rubber bands and converts them into a digital resource. This is a great example of how technology ENHANCES the curriculum. Geoboard will not benefit students without the good, quality lesson in place first.
Geoboard can be used by multiple grade levels to enhance lessons dealing with the creation/learning of shapes to the decomposition/composition of shapes.
How I Use It
I have suggested the following uses to teachers:
- use Geoboard during small group time to practice composing and decomposing shapes
- use Geoboard as an assessment tool -- Provide the students with a task card related to geometry. Have them make something using Geoboard. Take a screenshot of the finished product and email to the teacher. The screenshot could also be used within Educreations to create an explanation video.
