My Take

Overall I like the graphics on this app. It is well designed, the information on the cards suits a 3rd grade or struggling 4th grade environment. It would be great as an idea or question generator for kids to gain background knowledge about the different countries so they would create better questions and/or make a better decision about a possible short research project.

How I Use It

I gave my students three apps (WOW maps, Continents, TapQuiz, and GeoWalk) to use to increase their knowledge of geography. The kids gravitated toward Geo Walk. It went beyond the naming of the continents and countries, which was the focus of the other apps, although each have some interesting features. They enjoyed the interactivity of Geo Walk. The act of spinning the globe instills knowledge of its spherical shape. They enjoyed sharing the facts with each other and were eager to learn more. One tricky thing is zooming back out of the flash cards. Kids did get lost in the cards and I had to ask them, Where are you now? From what country is this person or where does this animal live to get them to integrate the knowledge presented.
