My Take

Since the student voice is the MOST important part of a digital storytelling multimedia project, using GarageBand is ideal for laying the voice track. With project that require multi pieces of research and analysis, 'recording your voice track in GarageBand' can be easily added to the project timeline and serve as a stepping stone for keeping a project moving when students work independently.

How I Use It

We train students that Pre-Production and Post-Production take the longest. So students must have their ideas and script ready to go before recording their voice in a GarageBand Podcast. The instructions for setting your GarageBand file is on a one-page instruction sheet, OR student may watch the video tutorial for setup. Then they are given one class period to lay their recording and make any edits before exporting the voice track file to be then used in a larger iMovie project with images.
