My Take

As a source of information, extension and some teachers materials linked to different species/collections, it´s a very useful teaching tool. I like some of the extra resources, but limited only to some species. Podcasts and some lessons can be very handy. For students who like to extend content could be a perfect resource. Also it has the option to change to different languages (17 in total!), perfect for EAL students, but not sure if all the info is available as in english.

How I Use It

For an Ecology unit, students completed a project on animals and plants of the forest, Students can get plenty of information and images from the site, although some of the content too complex for Middle School students. It´s easy to find the species they are looking for and some extras such as podcasts and meet the scientist section (extra resources), but navigation can be challenging for younger students (Grade 6-7).
