Bio
I have always had a love for learning and after completing a Bachelors of Science in elementary education from Lynchburg College I went on and completed a Masters in Special Education at Lynchburg College and a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction: Secondary Reading from Grand Canyon University.
As a special education teacher of high school students in New Jersey, I strive to foster a love of learning within each and every one of my students. I have had the pleasure of working with students in grades nine through twelve with various disabilities (i.e. Learning disabilities, behavioral disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and other health impairments) in various subjects. Specifically, I have taught a Reading Strategies class, a Learning Strategies class, an American Literature class, and a Contemporary English class. The common thread in each of these subjects is that I guide and enable my students to develop stronger reading, writing, and learning strategies. I differentiate and individualize instruction to met the needs of each of my students. I find teaching very rewarding as I have developed strong relationships with each of my students where they are not afraid to ask for help and learning take risks.
