My Take
I love using this as a formative assessment. Since it is a whiteboard, there is no structure to limit the students' creativity or parameters to hold them back. They can use the pens to draw, the camera to take pictures to include, and record their voices to show understanding. I wish that it was not necessary to publish the videos online in order to share them. I'd rather that they were able to save the video to the camera roll and then import it into their Google drive for saving purposes. Since my students are under 13, they can't publish to the internet without permission.
How I Use It
After teaching a lesson on finding common denominators, students showed their understanding by working in collaborative groups to create a video teaching the concept to others. They used the format of Khan Academy, or Learnzillion to create videos that showed each step in the process. By recording their voices as they drew on Educreations, I was able to see who had a solid understanding of the concept. The final step was to use mirroring to show their video to the class.
