My Take

Educreations is a wonderful tool that allows student to draw, write, add pictures and then narrate their work. It's works much better as an iPad app than on the website. The mouse function on the website can be difficult to work with if. If you make a mistake there is no editing, which can be frustrating to students. It also needs to be very quiet when recording. I love getting to hear my students explain what they did and why they did it when solving a problem. It is a great way to record problem solving or notes for when students are absent.

How I Use It

I use Educreations as "final draft" of sorts for mathematical problem solving. I give my students time to solve their problem using pencil and paper first and then they take their work to the board and explain what they did when they were solving the problem. I have post their videos to their blog for their peers to view and critique. They love it! I have also used Educreations to show parents how students are solving problems in class. This has been very helpful to families at home especially if a student has forgotten their notes.
